About OpScout

What is OpScout?

OpScout is an alerts service for investors who already know the conditions they care about. You set price, market cap, Covered Call, Cash-Secured Put and Target Entry conditions on the stocks you choose. OpScout checks them on a schedule during the U.S. trading session and notifies you when they are met.

Is OpScout investment advice?

No. OpScout provides informational alerts based on conditions you configure. It does not provide investment advice or recommendations, and an Alert is not a signal to buy, sell or hold anything. When several contracts match, the one an Alert names is simply first by a published ordering rule. Risk Disclosure.

Does OpScout place trades or hold my money?

No. OpScout does not provide brokerage services, custody or trade execution, and it does not connect to your brokerage account. Any trade is yours to place, with your broker.

Which markets does OpScout watch?

OpScout evaluates Monitors during the U.S. regular trading session, and its options Monitors cover U.S.-listed options. Pre-market, after-hours and overnight trading are not covered. Market sessions.

Can I use OpScout with Claude?

Yes. With the OpScout connector, Claude can create, list, check, update and remove Target Entry Monitors once you have reviewed and approved them. OpScout for Claude.

Monitors and checks

How often are my Monitors checked?

In cycles about every 15 minutes during the U.S. regular trading session: the first at the 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time open, the last at 3:45 p.m. (12:45 p.m. on early-close days). No cycles run outside the session. A Monitor set to Once is checked in every cycle until it is met; one set to Repeat is checked again when its interval has passed. When Monitors are evaluated.

Why didn't I get an Alert when the price touched my level?

OpScout checks on a schedule, not continuously, so a condition that is met only between two checks may never be detected. It also uses only the regular-session price: a level crossed only before the open or after the close does not produce an Alert unless it is still crossed when the session opens.

Is a new Monitor checked as soon as I save it?

No. A new or changed Monitor is first checked in the next cycle or, while the session is closed, in the first cycle after it opens. The app shows when that first check is due.

How is the annualized return worked out?

At the bid. The bid is divided by the capital, which is the stock price less the bid for a Covered Call and the strike less the bid for a Cash-Secured Put, then multiplied by 365 and divided by the days to expiration. It is simple, not compounded, and leaves out commissions, fees, taxes and dividends. Annualized return, explained.

What is a Target Entry Monitor?

It looks for a way to own a stock at or below a price you set while earning at least a return you set: by selling a put, or by buying the shares and selling a call (a buy-write). Target Entry Monitors.

Where does the market data come from?

From licensed third-party market data providers. Some values are reported by the data source, some are calculated by it, and some are computed by OpScout; the Methodology labels each one. Where values come from.

Is there a limit on WhatsApp messages?

Can a Notification arrive late?

Yes. A Notification is sent after its Alert is recorded, failed attempts may be retried over a period of hours, and delivery time depends on the channel, the network and your device. A Notification for an Alert recorded during the session may arrive after the session has closed.

Subscription and account

How much does OpScout cost?

Is there an introductory offer?

We may offer new subscribers a reduced price for their first period, for example a lower price for the first week of the weekly plan. The offer, and the regular price the plan renews at, are shown before you subscribe. Introductory offers.
